We have been celebrating spring in Writers Workshop! We wrote books about spring, the steps of growing plants, and the insects and animals we find during spring time. Some students were inspired to grow vegetable, fruit, and flower gardens at home! Now we are learning about zoo animals. Last week we went on interactive field trips to the San Diego Zoo to learn about the rhino, zebra, and cheetah. Next week we will learn and write about the panda, elephant, komodoo dragon, and giraffe. In science we have been enjoying learning about properties. We explore the shape, size, color, and texture of objects while using our five senses. Our favorite tool to explore properties is the surprise box! We were able to examine the cool science projects done by the older students in the school. We can't wait to be in first grade to start our own science projects. We wrote about our favorite ones in our science journals.
We are writing about our favorite science project in our science journals!
Reading in the Reading Nook!
Her favorite science project was the generator, especially because her big sister made it!
His favorite science project was the volcano. He wrote the steps of the volcano by writing time words first, next, then, last!
Enjoying sorting, graphing, and adding jelly beans during math!
Our spring egg hunt!
We made a birds nest with a coconut macaroon cookie and used jelly beans as baby bird eggs.
It was a yummy treat too!
